Our Experience
Carat Merchant LLC is a US company operating through accredited professionals based in the major gemstone trading hubs; where they developed industry relationships that became the team’s main asset. With diversity of nationality, language and geographic location, our team is able to navigate locally and internationally in order to streamline a sustainable process from sourcing to selling.
Also, by having design and aesthetic sensitivity within our team, we have been able to cultivate "attention to detail" when it comes to selecting coveted gemstone colors and managing the cutting process. This factor contributes to ensure that the finished product meets high industry standards. With that said, our single most important lesson from participating in this trade, is the value of preserving a sense of integrity and good reputation amongst our peers; especially in a globalized world.

Our team has a hand on each end of the market. That enables us to feel the pulse of demand and supply by capturing information about market trends on the consumer side, as well as managing sustainability parameters on the miners side.

Our Responsibility in Africa
Our founder is an African and our senior advisor earned a track record in consulting on development projects for various African governments during his previous profession. These experiences legitimatize our genuine interest in taking part in the development of this sector, within the continent. Since 2016 and prior to the company’s formation, Carat Merchant‘s management has been investing its own resources, both financially and in terms of human capital, with the belief that local industry has the potential to become a participant on the global stage. A mobile colored stones lapidary studio was installed in Southern Africa with the aim of having direct access to local mining production.
